HOC Computer Support Achieves Milestone
Fillmore, CA – July
14, 2005. HANDS-ON Consultations (HOC), Computer Support
Services, a Fillmore, Ventura County based company, announces their seven
year anniversary as a full-time computer support company serving the
communities of Ventura County and beyond.
In July of 1988,
acquiring a city business license and registering with Ventura County, Harv
& Patti Oliver established the computer support services company out of
their home on Goodenough Road in Fillmore.
In their original business plan, there was never an intent for a
storefront, but to provide “HANDS ON” services in the field or in their
offices as required. Since that
time, due to business expansion and requirements, the office has relocated
to the Gurrola Building at 606 Sespe in Fillmore, and evolved from a Sole
Proprietor to a Limited Liability Company.
Harv provides the technical support services and manages the
day-to-day operations with Patti’s experience and MBA providing support in
appropriate business operations and continuing business development.
They’ve also added administrative personnel and program development
personnel to their support staff.
“Providing
professional, friendly services, while building mutually beneficial
relationships has always been our goal.” stated Harv in noting the 7-year
milestone. “In any service
industry, providing outstanding customer service and dealing honorably with
our clients are the most important factors, in my opinion, and that’s what
we’ve always tried to do. We
all know you can’t please everyone, but at HANDS-ON we do our very best
and our high success rate reflects that, assisting us in achieving our goal
in pleasing most of our clients most of the time!” Oliver added.
For the past seven
years, HOC services have been provided for business and home users alike.
Ranging from hardware/software troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades,
computer components, new computer systems to network design, development,
& support to web design, development, and hosting to training for
Windows and associated applications, and program and database software
development. They provide
incidents support services, along with scheduled maintenance plans and also
are aligned with other vendors in various support contracts.

County and beyond for assisting us in reaching this milestone.
Success is many things and we are meeting and achieving the goals we
set for ourselves 7 years ago,” acknowledged Oliver.

of business for 7 years is tough and this is something we’re very proud

exciting field now, and far into the future.”

HANDS-ON Consultations
(HOC), was
established as full time business in 1998. Serving Ventura County, CA,
our office is located in Fillmore to provide a central location allowing us to reach our clients in a timely manner.
HOC is owned and operated by Harv
Oliver. Harv's background in computers began as an Engineering Contractor for the
Department of Defense and specifically, the United States Navy. Beginning in 1986, Harv
supported the DOD at the China Lake Naval facility in Southern California.
Efforts there focused initially on Mainframe support, including development
and promotion to the position of System Administrator for the Logistics
Divisions UNIX
mainframe systems.
During this time, the personal computer was
becoming more popular and somewhat affordable (for Government agencies at
any rate!). This provided a wonderful opportunity to be on the cutting
edge as the 'dumb terminals' were being replaced by the personal computers
and emulation software to allow for access to the mainframes, yet provide a multitude
of other applications for the users. Harv was able to begin at
the MS-DOS operating system and evolve with systems to the current Windows
operating systems and a variety of software including programs that have
been there for the whole ride and those new cutting edge tools in today's
exciting environment.
Continuing growth in computer support
activities, including database management and program management for
logistics-related activities resulted in relocating to Point Mugu Naval Base
to continue in this ever-changing field. Computer Based Training,
including video and audio capture and program development were added to
Harv's resume.
Setting up and building PC's,
designing and implementing networks, program development and multimedia
training allowed Harv to take the step to begin providing such services in
the Commercial sector, for both businesses and home users.
The culmination of it all is the experience
and knowledge gained which
allows HANDS-ON Consultations to continue providing services for computers and their associated hardware
and software into today's dynamic computer environment.
